Allah
and Elohim - Are they the same God? Part 13
Word of God is Eternal and Unchanging
Word
His Word is Eternal:
Bible tells us that Jesus is the Word of God John 1:1-2-4, "In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word
was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made
through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In
Him was life, and the life was the light of men." And the Bible also tells us in John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt
among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten
of the Father, full of grace and truth. "
So we can see that "Word" is precisely
called God and the same "Word of God" who was with God
and was God came down in the form of a man to save us from our sins
and from hell fire. Old Testament also confirms this idea as we
read in Psalms
33:6, "By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And all
the host of them by the breath of His mouth."
And no one can make heaven and earth and the whole
universe but it is the quality of God that He can make heaven, earth
and the universe and that is the reason why Jesus is called God
in the Bible.
But when we come to Quran we see that though Jesus
is called "His Word" in Quran Sura 4:171, but not considered
as God.
Read sura 4:171 O
People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say
of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was (no
more than) an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed
on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and
His apostles. Say not "Trinity": desist: it will be better
for you: for Allah is one Allah. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is
He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens
and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.
First part of Sura
4:171 says that Jesus is word of God (His Word) and "a spirit
proceeding from Him
"
I was talking to a Muslim a few days back and he said like this
about this Sura:
"Basic principle of Quranic exegesis is Quran itself so we have
to look at some of other passages in Quran, what does it mean by
word of God or word proceeding from God.
The explanation of this could be found in Quran chapter 3 and verse
59:
The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He
created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he
was.
Here it means only one thing that God
used his word to create Jesus (pbuh), similar to the creation of
Adam (pbuh), it cannot be used to denote divinity, if so, then Adam
is a better candidate for such designations. "
And as explained before:
Jesus is the Word of Allah (that was given to Mary), and from that
Word (Be!), Jesus was created, because He (Jesus) has no human father.
This was my reply: What if Jesus is the same Word
(Be!)? I see another contradiction here in the Quranic verse! How?
Jesus is the Word of God so whatever God says
it is Jesus including "Be"? And the above Sura
says that Jesus was created by word "Be". Word of God
"Be" is already there so why it was needed to create "Be"
again? Don't you see a contradiction here?
How God will create His own Word?
From the day God exist in this world, His Word also exist
so His Word is eternal and no one can create Him or His Word.
If His Word (Jesus) is eternal then He is God Himself.
And Jesus Himself also claimed that He is the same
God of Old Testament but Quran simply denies that Jesus is God.
Jesus said in Mat 12:8, "For the Son of Man is Lord even of
the Sabbath."
Again He says in John 10:30
"I and My Father are one."
Again He says in Rev 1:8 "I
am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says
the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."
But when we come to Quran it says in,
Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread)
Sura 5:116 And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus
the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother
as gods in derogation of Allah.?" He will say: "Glory
to Thee! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said
such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what
is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest
in full all that is hidden.
If Allah is the same God of the Bible then how come he does not
know that Jesus is the God of the Old Testament or Yahweh God?
How come it is hidden from Allah?
It makes it clear that Allah is not the Yahweh God and does
not know what happened in the beginning or what Jesus actually said
when He was in this world.
His Word does not change:
The Bible says in Isaiah 40:8, "The grass withers, the flower
fades, But the word of our God stands forever."
Not only this verse shows the immutability of God's
Word but there are several verses which says that His Word is unchangeable. Jesus Himself said in Mat 5:18, "For
assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot
or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."
Yes, this much importance has the Word of God that
it cannot change a little bit.
And also the Bible says that God has magnified His Word above
all His name as we read in Psalms 138:2, "I
will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your
lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word
above all Your name."
So from above verses we can see that Word of God
is unchangeable or immutable. But I see Muslims claiming that Bible
is corrupted or Church fathers have written over again and again
so that the message is changed. But is it reality?
Of course not!
When God gave the Law to Moses then God said to him for a
King in Deuteronomy 17:18-20,
"Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom,
that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from
the one before the priests, the Levites. And it shall be with him,
and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn
to fear the LORD his God and be careful to observe all the words
of this law and these statutes, that his heart may not be lifted
above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment
to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days
in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel."
And for people in Josh 1:8, "This Book of the Law shall not depart
from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that
you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For
then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good
success."
How is it possible that a person who is having this
Law in his heart and meditating on it day and night will suddenly
change and he may never know this? How it is possible that Bible will
corrupt when they made so many copies of it.
And recent archaeological discoveries of Bible manuscripts
proved that Bible is not at all changed because they found so many
copies of Old testament and New Testament books.
But when we come to Quran we can see that the whole
message of the Bible is changed in Quran. The message of the Bible,
which was unchanged till the time of Mohammed, is changed in Quran,
I heard Muslims say that, Quran and Islam has abrogated all the
previous religion (Judaism and Christianity) and its scriptures
(Old Testament and New Testament).
Why? If Allah is the same God then why
he would abrogate Old Testament and New Testament or Judaism and
Christianity? He should not! If Quran is sent by
Yahweh/Elohim God then why it should change, it should not!
If Allah is the same Yahweh God then what he said in OT and
NT are just fake and does not make any sense because in OT and NT
He says His Word stands forever and He gives so much importance
to Word of God but in Quran he changed his word? Does not it show
that God of the Bible did not send the Quran and God of the Bible
is not the God of the Quran.
